Parents Seek Death Declaration for Missing Pitt Student Sudiksha Konanki

Heartbreaking Request from Grieving Parents

The parents of Sudiksha Konanki, a 21-year-old University of Pittsburgh student, have taken the painful step of requesting a death declaration for their daughter, who disappeared during Spring Break in the Dominican Republic. Subbarayudu and Sreedevi Konanki, in a letter dated March 17, formally asked authorities in the Caribbean nation to declare Sudiksha deceased, acknowledging the tragic likelihood after months without answers.

'We understand that certain legal procedures must be followed and are prepared to comply with any necessary formalities or documentation,' the letter stated. Sudiksha, a citizen of India and a U.S. permanent resident from Virginia, was last seen on March 6, socializing with a group that included 22-year-old Joshua Riibe. She was reported missing the following day, on March 7.

Details Surrounding Sudiksha's Disappearance

Sudiksha's case has left her family and authorities grappling with uncertainty. She was last seen drinking beverages with a group of individuals in the Dominican Republic, but no concrete leads have emerged since her disappearance. The lack of information has compounded the grief for her parents, who are now seeking closure through legal means to move forward with necessary proceedings.

The University of Pittsburgh community has also been affected by the loss, with many expressing concern and support for the Konanki family. While investigations continue, the formal request for a death declaration marks a somber acknowledgment of the challenges in locating missing persons abroad and the emotional toll on loved ones left behind.
